Bergen Classic Private hiking
Overview
This is a must-do if you want to experience Bergen like a true "Bergenser"! You will get to experience the Mt. Ulriken cablecar, then the hike starts from Mt. Ulriken. You'll get beautiful views of Bergen and the surrounding sea and mountains. When you arrive at Mt. Fløyen you will get to enjoy the view before you take the Fløibanen funicular down.
The guide takes you safely over the mountains. Along the way, your guide will point out all seven mountains surrounding Bergen and share stories of Norwegian culture, traditions and our landscape.
This trip let's you see all the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen, and walk between the two most famous peaks. You'll also get to experience both the Ulriksbanen (cablecar) and the Fløibanen (funicular). The Bergen Classic hike is more than just a hike, it’s a local tradition in the heart of the mountains.

What To Expect
Walk across the legendary "Vidden Plateau" with a private guide and experience the hike every Bergenser loves. This unforgettable full-day trek between Mt. Ulriken and Mt. Fløyen takes you high above the city and deep into the heart of Bergen’s mountain landscape.
Practical information:
Time: Approx. 6-9 hours with breaks.
Level: Hard/Experienced (blue category).
Hiking distance: 15km.
Terrain: Rocky, uneaven and it might be muddy and wet.
Total elevation gain: about 300 metres.
Meeting Point: Outside VisitBergen tourist information. The hike starts at Mt. Ulriken.
This iconic hike starts at Mt. Ulriken and takes you across the iconic "Vidden" plateau to Mt. Fløyen. The hike is quite challenging, with several ups and downs, rocky paths, and potential wet areas. While not technically difficult, it’s a real workout and requires solid fitness and hiking experience.
Along the way, your guide will point out all seven mountains surrounding Bergen and share stories of Norwegian nature, local culture, and our deep love for hiking. The views change constantly as you cross the plateau, offering a real taste of mountain wilderness just minutes from the city.

- Cabins and toilets: note that there are no food offers, heating cabins or toilets on any part of the thike
- Equipment needed: Sturdy shoes, windproof jackry and pants, sunglasses, and plenty of food and drink. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes, a light hat and gloves and trekking poles.
