Jurmala is the biggest sea resort city on the Baltic Sea in a comfortable geographical location – close to the capital of Latvia, Riga. The presence of the sea, the 30 kilometers long beach and the romantic wooden architecture ensure the unique ambiance of the city. Wooden architecture is one of the distinguishing features of Jūrmala, in particular, buildings with decorative tower lets, glazed verandas and woodcarvings. Wood was chosen as a building material for houses in the mid-19th century, when summer holidaymakers began escaping the city to relax in Jūrmala. Jūrmala is a unique destination in all seasons. In summer, Jūrmala lives a classic seaside resort life. In spring and autumn, those who want to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday in nature, improve their health, and recharge their batteries come to the city.
