What To Expect
Travelers paddle to the platform campsite on Lynches Scenic River to spend the night. The screened platform provides shelter for campers, and the porch is a great place to enjoy the view. There is a firepit for primitive cooking. Please note that there is no electricity or potable water at this location, however, a landing with these amenities is located approximately 1/4 mile upstream. Campers should plan to "Leave No Trace." All trash must be carried away. A primitive toilet is provided. No hunting is permitted.
Kayak rental or transportation to the platform can be arranged separately. Please check our other listings.
Arrangements can be made for shuttling kayaks between landings along the SC Revolutionary Rivers National Recreation Trail. This is a 66-mile trail on Lynches River and the Great Pee Dee River. The trail leads paddlers into the cypress and tupelo swamps where Revolutionary War hero General Francis Marion hid while fighting for liberty. It was in this area that he was given the nickname of "Swamp Fox."
