Megale Hellas, in Marina di Gioiosa Ionica in Calabria, brings you into the marine world for your first scuba experience to discover the emotion to breathe underwater and admire the wonder under the sea.
You’ll try the wonderful feeling of “flying” underwater, you’ll acquire notions of marine biology and you’ll develop new abilities but, above all, it will be great fun!
The activity is suitable for everyone, adults and children 8 years old and up, and do not need any prerequisite, only the curiosity and the desire to go underwater.
At the end of the activity, you will receive photos and video, souvenir of your first dive. And this is often only the beginning …!

What To Expect
Discover with us the wonders of the marine world, experience the extraordinary emotion of breathing underwater and admiring marine life in its natural habitat!
After a simple theoretical lesson on the use of the equipment and the marine environment you will explore, you will wear wet suit, fins, mask and with tank you will do your first dive in shallow water (5-6 m max), accompanied by an instructor, in a safe and comfortable environment. You’ll try the wonderful feeling of “flying” underwater, you’ll acquire notions of marine biology and you’ll develop new abilities but, above all, it will be great fun! With the qualified staff of the Megale Hellas Diving Center, there will be so many dive sites that even beginners can visit along the coast of the Ionian Sea, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Strait of Messina!
The activity is suitable for everyone, adults and children 8 years old and up, and do not need any prerequisite, only the curiosity and the desire to go underwater.

No, you don’t need to have any previous Scuba experience, but you must be able to swim without a flotation device.
Mar 2022Participants in the Try Scuba diving in Calabria, Italy cannot fly in an airplane within 24 hours of their dive.
The main concern with scuba diving and flying is decompression sickness (DCS). Your body needs adequate time during an ascent to off-gas excess nitrogen, or you can form bubbles in your bloodstream, possibly leading to DCS.
Jun 2024If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
