Personal experience of whale/sea lion/otter watching on the Central Coast

Chasing whales is never guaranteed - but our experienced captain and first mate (Kai, the whale spotter) yielded at least four whales and 10 sea lions on our voyage. Check-in was easy - motion sickness pills supplied for free (i had some) - the tour departed on time.Once onboard, a "safety speech" was given and we were off. You have the choice of sitting on deck in the open air, or within a glassed-in cabin (which I chose, as I am always cold). The windows in the cabin are HUGE, so you can see as well within as outside.We traveled at least 45 minutes before siting our first whales - 2-3 of them, casually feeding and showing their tails. After about 10 minutes a pod of about 6-8 sea lions appeared, frolicing in the ocean very near the boat.We followed the whales for about 40 minutes; there were between 3-6 and they surfaced very near the boat, for a "good see".During the interim, Kai informed us about the differences in whales (these were humpbacks), their routines and answering questions.This was a more personal experience than I would have expected, and we very much enjoyed it. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Central Coast.

We truly enjoyed this experience! The shuttle ride was wonderful, air conditioned and relaxing seats. Each winery felt intimate and customized for us. Loved the story telling from each of our hosts. The grounds were all unique and extremely beautiful. We would definitely use Grapevine Tours again!

BUCKET LIST EXPERIENCE! If you want to whale watch, definitely book with Lost Isle. All of the staff was super friendly. Our guide Gunner made sure everyone was okay and got to see the whales. It was a bucket list to see whales breaching along with sea lions and dolphins. 100/10 ⭐️

Best way to see the bay is by e-bike with this company.

We had a wonderful tour with this company. Road up the hill which overlooks the bay, then up close to the rock. The guide Jim couldn’t be more helpful and informative. Even saw several sea otters chilling in the water. Highly recommend, must do. Was a little apprehensive but Jim kept an eye on me and was really caring.

Cherished Memories - Wolffe Vineyard Tour

This will stand out as one of the most cherished experiences in my life. To put that in perspective, I would rate it on par if not better than underwater coral reef watching in the Andaman Islands. And clearly superior to the Hollywood Big Bus tour in Los Angeles. What makes this so good? Firstly, it's the locale. Uncrowded. Rural. Scenic. Dormant volcanoes with vineyard slopes. And for someone like me: my first visit to a vineyard. Secondly, our motorist and guide - Jill Kreig. She was confident and reassuring as our motorcycle with sidecar pilot, even on sharp turns on sloping hills, being certified in motorcycle safety. And surprisingly knowledgeable about diverse aspects of the vineyard - the birds, bees, how-to drive away pests, netting, saplings, dormant volcanoes, harvesting season, when the labour season peaks, ground bottling using mobile equipment... But the most important thing was that Jill is very courteous and considerate. And patient too. And you'll be surprised to hear more things about herself when you take the tour. Do ask JD to assign Jill to be your guide. Oh, I almost forgot: my wife had insisted that we ought to have visited Seattle instead of San Luis Obispo on our Amtrak round trip by the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles. But now she agrees with me, after seeing the Thursday evening Downtown SLO Farmers' Market and doing the vineyard tour. JD, thank you so much helping me change her mind!

Book it, you won’t regret it!!

I cannot say enough how much everyone in this company has helped me. I originally thought my sister made a reservation, while calling them to increase my reservation from 2 to 4, I found out she did not. They happily increased my reservation again to 6. They honored my Top10Adventures® discount, they answered every call and question I had. The receptionist ladies were so incredibly kind. Jeff picked us up right on time & made the whole experience fun and flawless. My sisters are afraid/allergic to dogs, Jeff made sure they were put away at every stop we made, he took our bottles of wine, labeled them with our names & put them away for safekeeping. We were celebrating my birthday and he made sure to make it memorable for me. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Almost top notch.

The tour guide (Angie) was very well informed. She did an excellent job. She was very personable and I couldn't have asked for a better guide. I personally thought the price was a bit too expensive. I have been on several food tours throughout the country and the food selection for this one was a little less than stellar. The portions were meager at a few of the places and the management at a couple of the restaurants seemed less than prepared for our group. Overall it was entertaining and I will certainly recommend this company.
