A step back in time.
This was a fantastic tour. Out guide, Manuela was worth every penny! She was knowledgeable and passionate about the Convention of Christ and its importance in history. We learned so many things that we would have missed if we did not do this private tour. To get the most from this snapshot of history, for me, I highly recommend this tour. I would do this again. Great experience.

Awesome visit to Almoural and Convent
Darren is extremely knowledgeable about the Templars and their history and influence. He can talk to all levels of people and make it understandable. Truly a learning experience. Even though the castle was closed we visited Almoural followed by the Convent of Christ. One member of our group is blind and he did very well at guiding and helping him “visualize” the castle and convent.

Monica was most knowledgeable- she made all the learning and history fun. It was neat to learn she has been studying this history all her life and volunteered as a young teen at the convent to learn as much as she could. Her passion and enthusiasm for this history is endearing. Book with her if you make it to Tomar- she will also have many recommendations of other historic parts of Portugal!

Simply the best!
Fernando was wonderful. He is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. It was a wonderful 7 hours learning about the history of Portugal and the Knights Templar. We toured the convent and the castle. He revealed details and history about the convent we would have missed without his guidance. The tour of Tomar and the churches and synagogue was delightful. Again, he brought to life the town with fun anecdotes and history.

The scenery and the biking is spectacular!
This bike tour was one of the highlights of our vacation in Portugal. First of all, the scenery and the biking is spectacular and lived up to the descriptions: the ecopista goes along vineyards, farm land, historic villages, forests, crossing old stone-arch bridges, through small towns and tunnels, with many hilltop and river valley look-offs; paved, gravel, cobble and clay trails. Lots of variety. We found this ecopista through the Viaje Portugal website. Xavier is awesome! (A knowledgeable, friendly host, prompt, and a good communicator). We (2 of us) cycled the ecopista on our own, with Xavier providing logistic/vehicle support as needed throughout the day and he took some great photos of us along the way. Would highly recommend this Viaje bike tour. Great memories. Thanks Xavier!
