Absolutely lovely guided tour of the unique flora and fauna in the area, our guide Mauricio was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating for us while still ensuring the tour was respectful of the wildlife we came to see.Tour began at 7am with a pickup at our hotel then an hour drive to the lagoon where we saw crocodiles, iguanas, tons of birds hiding in the mangroves, and the few white tailed deer. Then an INCREDIBLE lunch was available for purchase (make sure to take look at the traditional kitchen they make it all in) including tlayuda, quesadillas, fresh coconuts, mezcal, beer, etc. From there we headed back to the car and drove to the turtle sanctuary and released a few baby Olive Ridley sea turtles with the oversight of one of the sanctuaries handlers.Overall this tour delivered in all ways, I was very glad that at no point were any animals disturbed for our enjoyment. This was the exact kind of eco-conscious tourism that I was hoping for. Keep in mind that because this tour is engaging with nature your experience may differ from ours slightly, for example we had to push our tour by one day because there weren’t any hatchlings on our originally scheduled day, remember you are working on mother natures schedule 👌

She was a doll!! Perfect host and very accommodating and gracious. Passionate about her culture and Mezcal! What a fun experience for my partner and I. We had a private tasting on the beach at sunset, it was so much fun and a great way to end our trip. I highly highly recommend!

We had a fantastic experience working with Maury. He speaks excellent English, was very knowledgeable about the area, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip. He arranged our turtle release experience and personally drove us to the site, helped us book the dolphin-watching tour, and even drove us an hour and a half to our next destination when a taxi wasn't available. Communication was always easy, and it was clear that he genuinely cared about us having a great time. Highly recommend!

I took this tout in May and it was absolutely amazing! Lalo was spectacular and so knowledgable. I tried the best local food and every bite was incredible. The atmosphere was perfect! Highly recommend if you want authentic and local flavors!

We are infinitely grateful the tour it is definitely a good value for the money, we saw a sky full of stars an amazing journey through the manglar to end swimming in the lake of Chacacua full of plankton bioluminescence that shine when you move, also we we were really lucky because of our guide Mario besides being really attentive and kind, is a really cult, well prepared and educated person who explain us a lot of interesting topics about the region, the nature, and the conservation by efforts of the projects and communities that work in the region, I am deeply grateful since today I learn so much. Mauri was a fantastic guide! He took us on an unforgettable tour through the mangroves and to Isla Chacahua, and his enthusiasm and knowledge made the whole experience truly special. He was incredibly well-informed about the local flora, fauna, and the Afro-Mexican community on the island, and genuinely passionate about sharing it all.One of our group had an injury and couldn’t get his foot wet, and Mauri went out of his way to make sure he could still participate: literally carrying him from the boat to the shore without a second thought. That kind of care really set him apart.The highlight of the evening was swimming with bioluminescent plankton in the dark, an experience none of us will forget. Mauri made us feel safe while keeping the magic of the moment intact.He also spontaneously introduced us to tepache along the way, which turned out to be one of our favorite discoveries of the whole trip. My gf signed me up and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but let me tell you my experience with JoJo was magical and transformative. I arrived full of anxiety, anger, and sadness and left with a healing heart, ready to take on the world. If you’re looking for a sign on whether to take the plunge: this is it. Do the retreat. A few notes on the particulars. The food is absolutely incredible and I say that as someone from Chicago who works in hospitality and is very much not a vegan. Every meal was filling, flavorful, and left my body feeling genuinely great. Thank you, amazing Goddess Paige and David, for the gift of those meals. The bedrooms are comfortable and come with a private bathroom, so yes, you’re in the middle of nowhere, but you are far from camping. The land and hot springs is breathtaking.JoJo will have a full day planned for you, but makes it clear from the start that this is your experience. Move in whatever way honors your body and its needs.I’m also deeply grateful for the other women on the retreat. Being held in community with women from different cultures and backgrounds made the experience something truly special. We cannot recommend this experience enough. Our trip to Mazunte and the nearby beaches was unforgettable, and it was all thanks to Mario.He is incredibly knowledgeable—not only about the destinations, but also about the history, culture and unique vibe of each place. He took us to spectacular food places (the ceviche was honestly some of the best we’ve ever tasted, and we’re pretty picky), and each recommendation felt very well thought out.Besides, Mario is simply a great person to spend the day with—patient, friendly, easy to talk to and always willing to answer all our questions. You can tell that he is really passionate about what he does and that he cares about the people he guides.The tour is very well designed. Pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation, and for about 12 hours explore several beaches—Mazunte, San Agustinillo, Estacahuite and Zipolite. Each place has its own charm, and without it it would have been much harder to move around and enjoy everything to the fullest.We had “sea in the background” so the waves were quite strong and we couldn’t swim on most of the beaches (except Pantheon Beach, which was quieter). At first we were a little disappointed, but the truth did not detract from the experience. The beaches were still stunning, there were amazing places to relax, explore shops and eat delicious.We ended the day in Punta Cometa watching the sunset, and it was the perfect close. It’s a short, light hike to the top, but the views are absolutely spectacular—a truly magical and relaxing way to end the day.What stood out most was how attentive Mario was throughout and how passionate he is about supporting the local community—he also gave us great recommendations to continue exploring in Puerto Escondido.We have done many tours as experienced travelers, and rarely find anyone as special as Mario. Really, a jewel.Don't think twice. Book the tour now!

We were a group of 8, 4 adults, 4 kids (5, 6, 7, 8 yo). We booked a private tour directly by chatting via WhatsApp.Our experience was 10/10. We arrived and park directly at Puerto Angelito. The tour operator was waiting for us and we were in the boat within minutes. We had our own kids life vests for to assure correct fit.Our guide Jose was the best. With him we saw 3 types of dolphins, manta rays and sea turtles. We even saw 2 whales although it was the end of the season and they were mostly gone from the area. We swam with the dolphins and he let our son drive the boat on the way back. He knew where to find the sea life and knew all species and facts about them. He spotted the second whale and we were the only boat floating along side the whale, magical moment!We went at 7am and were happy to avoid the heat and wind.

Mr. Carlos Reynoso who took us throughout the day excellent, very friendly and explained the things we were going to see and do. Good suggestions and very timely, no complaints about it.Only one detail in the release of turtles happened to us with a group that had already finished explaining everything, so if we released the turtles but it was only 5 minutes we did not know anything, it became somewhat expensive to release the turtles considering that they did not explain more detail.

Very nice and impressive experience. Even though the whale season is coming to an end at this time of year, we’ve seen 4 humpback whales quite up close, and hundreds of dolphins swimming and playing properly next to the boat and on our way back we’ve also seen a group of big turtles swimming closeby. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves maritime life and nature.
